Sasaki’s tips for Self-Care Week

Sasaki’s tips for Self-Care Week

Self-Care Week, held on 12th-18th November this year, is an annual national awareness week that focuses on embedding support for self-care across communities, families and generations.

There is always more we can do to incorporate self-care into our daily routines for a happier and healthier life. At Sasaki, many of our products are designed with health and self-care in mind. We use ancient techniques and teachings surrounding relaxation and health, combined with advanced, modern technology to create products that help you take care of yourself and enhance your life for the better. Join us as we talk about the importance of sleep, massage and exercise as essential steps in your self-care routine.

The healing power of sleep

Sleep is so vital to the basic functioning of your body and mind. From carrying out essential ‘repair work’ on your body and cells during those restful hours, helping to prevent diseases like cancer and even to lose weight, to improving your memory, alertness, and mental health, sleep really does have healing powers.

Long and restful sleep, therefore, should be the basis of your self-care routine. There are a few simple steps you can take for a better sleep;

-        Going to bed early to ensure you get 7-8 hours’ sleep

-        Avoid late-night electronics and smartphones before bedtime or while you’re in bed

-        Developing a sleep routine; have a regular bedtime, do the same thing before bedtime every day, for example, read a book for 15 minutes before bedtime

-        Avoid brain stimulating substances containing caffeine and alcohol within a few hours of bedtime

-        Preserve the sanctity of your bed. Do not study, work or socialise in your bedroom/from your bed

However, if you’re still having trouble sleeping, it could be your mattress that’s to blame. In a poll, the National Sleep Foundation found that 92% of people said that a comfortable mattress is important to a good night’s sleep. But often, people are deterred by the seemingly high price tag of a good health mattress. However, investing in a good mattress that will aid in restful sleep can be life-changing.

Sleep is important to us here at Sasaki, which is why we’ve spent over ten years researching and developing the best way to revolutionise your sleep. Our extensive research has led us to create sleep systems like the Sasaki Magnetic and Photon Health Mattress. It is the only mattress registered as a Class 1 Medical Device in the UK and Europe, and it is clinically proven to stimulate circulation while you sleep.

Among many other components, the Sasaki mattress features magnetic and far-infrared technology. These features can re-energise your body to restore the immune system and its natural ability to repair itself and prevent illness.

Why massage isn’t a luxury

Massage is often overlooked as a rare luxury that we save for special occasions or holidays. However, incorporating massage therapy into our regular self-care routine can be essential to our mental, as well as physical, health and well-being.

The very first massage chair was introduced to the market in the 80s. The primary goal was to relieve pain in the joints and muscles. But as well as effectively relieving pain, massage therapy has other great benefits including improving your circulation and quality of sleep, relieving stress from your body and mind, and boosting your mental health.

Our chairs combine highly advanced Japanese technology along with ancient massage techniques to deliver a professional massage to you at the touch of a button. From zero gravity to far infrared heat therapy features, to our Bluetooth and sensory lighting features, just ten minutes in a Sasaki massage chair offers you the ultimate, personalised relaxation experience. Relaxing your mind and your body are at the heart of self-care and healing. Our massage chairs allow you to do this in the comfort of your home, whenever you need it. We recommend at least ten minutes a day in our massage chairs to re-centre and balance yourself daily. If you have any specific health conditions, try incorporating a longer session, up to 30 minutes, into your daily routine.

Self-care isn’t just about relaxation

While taking time to relax and giving your body a break are important, exercising it is too. It also acts as its own form of escape.

Exercise is an essential underpinning of a healthy lifestyle, improving the capacity, strength, and wellbeing of the body and, in turn, the mind. Research shows that a regular exercise of fitness routine can decrease tension, anger and depression. Plus, we all know that exercise = endorphins, the ‘happy hormone’!

Our FLABeLOS Medical CE Domestic vibration plates are a great way to incorporate a fun and quick way of exercising into your daily or weekly routine and excellent to use in the comfort of your home. Just 10 minutes a day of vibration training on FLABeLOS gives you a total body workout.
